Wineries CANOPY it is born as a project of 2 friends enologists, professionals of the world of the wine, of the company and of the hotel and catering business: Alfonso Chacón y Belarmino Fernandez. Two very different personalities that join to fulfill his small dream: to elaborate a qualit wine from the vineyard.
Everything begins in 2004 with the selection of the vineyards and the bet for the D.O. Méntrida, in Toledo. Though it is true that this D.O. was not enjoying very good reputation, specialized from ancient in the production of bulks and with few Wineries that they had bet for the qualit wine bottled, it was fulfilling an indispensable condition: An ancient vineyard based fundamentally on the variety Garnacha and a few areas with very special characteristics.
The search of our vineyards led us to discovering one of the best terruños of the zone. The plots are nailed in a saw, to 750 meters of altitude, on soils silíceos, with great abundance of rock granitic mother. A poor substratum, adapted from ancient to the culture of the grapevine. The vineyards of Garnacha , planted in the 50s and 60s, are led in glass by very narrow frames, since they were in the habit of working with animals.

Malpaso Syrah
Designation of Origin MENTRIDA
Malpaso es un monovarietal de Syrah que expresa como pocos todo el potencial de esta variedad de uva, perfectamente adaptada a las exigentes condiciones de la zona de Méntrida. Malpaso es un claro reflejo del objetivo con el que se fundó esta bodega toledana y que no es otra que elaborar vinos pensados desde la viña, practicando una viticultura ecológica y respetando al máximo la uva. Elaborado con uva Syrah, procedente de las viñas en espaldera de 30 años de edad que la bodega tiene en el municipio de Camarena, Malpaso es un tinto potente, bien estructurado y con un final pleno y duradero. Crianza de 12 meses en roble francés, en barricas de 400 y 500 litros.
