Sacristán Mena Viticultores - Bodegas Ababol
Five years ago today, on the advice of French winemaker Jean Francois Hebrard, Sexton Family Mena got down to work to meet one of the great dreams family, selecting the best grapes from their vineyards for the production of an organic wine that reflects years of experience and know-how in the field. With this premise Ababol born, a very special wine that encapsulates the wisdom and tradition with sophistication own Jean François brings in its preparation. Sheltered by the appellation of origin Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, Ababol, in three varieties, is a different wine with great character that does not leave anyone indifferent.
The Verdejo and Ababol reds come from the family vineyards of Eusebio Sacristan (Fifth principal owner of Stillness) in La Seca (DO Rueda) which applies the same philosophy as in Fifth of Stillness (glass vines without irrigation and organic farming). The Sexton family vineyard Mena consists of about 50 acres: 29.5 acres of Verdejo, 18 hectares of Tempranillo, Viura 1.50 hectares and 1 hectare of Cabernet Sauvignon. Today the wines made from a selection of 2 Ha of Tempranillo (plus a bit of Cabernet Sauvignon) and two plots Verdejo 4 and 2 acres respectively.
