VT CUMBRES DEL GUADALFEO
In Granada there are 3 geographical areas with the designation recognized geographical indication: wine Cumbres del Guadalfeo (Contraviesa - Alpujarra), wines of the Altiplano de Sierra Nevada (north) and wines Laderas del Genil (south-west).
In 2004, by Order of November 22, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries was established standards of use of the term 'Vinos de la Tierra Contraviesa-Alpujarra', has now been modified by Order of February 4, 2009 (BOJA No 31 of 16 February), which replaces the protected term 'wine-Alpujarra Contraviesa Earth' by that of 'Vino de la Tierra Cumbres del Guadalfeo'.
The vineyard extends along the slopes of the Sierra de la Contraviesa, especially its southern slope, facing the Mediterranean. The Contraviesa is the central part of a
alignment closing the Alpujarra mountains in the south, bordering on the west and east Lújar with Gádor. Bordering the Mediterranean coast of Granada and Almeria, between the lower river valley and low Andarax Guadalfeo.
The rosé wine is the most traditional of the area. Also popular white wine from the local variety Vigiriega, and there are documents indicating cultivation in 1807.
The minimum natural alcoholic strength by volume shall be 11 ° for white wines and 12 for reds.
