Founded in 1729
Alvear is one of the Wineries of major prestige and international recognition of Spain, being the most ancient Winery of Andalusia.
It was Diego de Alvear y Escalera, who in 1729 moves to Montilla where his passion is born for the vineyard and the wine. There it founded the Winery Alvear.
From his origins up to the current importance, the Winery has supported a great entail between Spain and Argentina.
Throughout his 275 years of history, the Winery Alvear has preserved his familiar character, being the eighth generation who possesses the property of the company at present.
In the year 2000, there begins the gait of Viñas de Alange and his Winery Palacio Quemado, an initiative of Alvear and of the family Losada Serra, owner of beautiful cultivates Palacio Quemado, in the D.O. Ribera del Guadiana. Burnt palace is a challenge that seeks to obtain qualit wines of an exceptional region, associated with the centenary experience of Wineries Alvear.
The Winery possesses extensive vineyards placed in the most famous payments of the Sierra de Montilla and Moriles (Cordova) .Here, his vine-stock protagonist is Pedro Ximénez, native to the Rhine, grape that turns into the only base of his sweet, thin, fragrant and amontillado wines.
