Bodegas Fernández Herrero breeding area Huéscar wines that are already among the most prominent of the Andalusian landscape. Luisa Fernandez Sanchez and Rafael Portillo Herrero, and their children, are responsible for one of the most charming wineries Granada, hometown of Irving wines. The winery is located on the El Duque, located on the slopes of La Sagra, which at 2387 meters high at its highest point, is the highest point of Andalusia after Sierra Nevada. The winery is at a height of 1380 meters, probably the highest in Spain Bodega.

The vineyards are divided into three farms, spread over the geographical area that spans the region of Huesca, with 12,000 vines of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon 8000, 4000 Syrah and 2000 Merlot. Although not far from each other, approximately 15 kilometers, there are differences that allow acclimatization and diversification of production given the different characteristics of soil and climate. The environment is different each vineyard. The varieties of soil (limestone, and clay magroso) and different permeability coupled with rainfall levels and accused media temperature changes, make this area an ideal setting for the red varieties Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, managing to achieve a select products.

The winds of the mountains, cause during the nights of summer and fall a good thermal contrast that favors the aromatic potential, increasing likewise the coloring matter of grapes but with enough heat which guarantees a perfect day maturation providing soft and round tannins. The concern of its founders, Rafael Fernández Sánchez Herrero and Luisa Portillo, led to the selection of a privileged and unrivaled place for growing grapes, where the hours of sun, soil quality, the lay of the land, the wind and admirable work and dedication, have been decisive to place its wines among the highlights of the current panomara Andalusian.

The encounter with the tradition started by the great-grandparents and they had grown, made this project, which began in 2001 with the planting of the first vines, and has now paid off with Irving wines that speak volumes alone, wines that are born to offer the consumer and lover of good wine a new concept in the craftsmanship and breeding, marketing and all it represents, today, the world of wine.
