VT LADERAS DEL GENIL

Logo of the VT LADERAS DEL GENIL
In Granada there are 3 geographical areas with the designation recognized geographical indication: wine Cumbres del Guadalfeo (Contraviesa - Alpujarra), wines of the Altiplano de Sierra Nevada (north) and wines Laderas del Genil (south-west).

One of the areas that is gaining prominence in the wine scene of Granada is the wine of Laderas del Genil, formerly known as Granada Suroeste. Thus, on July 1, 2003 was published in BOJA the Order authorizing the mention Vino de la Tierra de Granada Suroeste. Vineyards are planted on slate soils and at high altitude, with low rainfall and influenced by the Mediterranean sea breeze, which smooths some temperatures. The combination of these factors has created a microclimate conducive to growing grapes, obtaining a high quality natural product.

Wines are white and pink, with a minimum natural volumetric ranking 10th, and young reds and aged in oak barrels and bottle, with a minimum natural volumetric ranking 12th. It is characteristic of these wines their rich aroma and intense color for the highest concentration of anthocyanins.
