The zone of Arribes del Duero presents a very rough relief marked by the fort encajamiento of the river Douro and his tributaries in the zamorano-Salamancan batolito. The vineyard places inside this geographical frame in different altitudes and exhibitions, from the 810 msnm in Fermoselle up to little more than 120 msnm in La Fregeneda.At the same time, the type of geological materials and of soils is complex enough, though it is possible to say that principally soils of texture abound I smooth sandy, of little bottom and abundant pedregosidad. They can find also deeper soils and with better agricultural aptitude in punctual zones normally tied to slaty substrata.

Climate

The climate also is determined by the relief and by the situation in the west of the peninsula. The rainfalls are more abundant than in the basin of the Douro due to his situation nearer to the ocean. The values range between 500 and 800 mm being the more habitual thing that they are concerning 600 mm. The temperatures present a few much more unlike values to those of the basin of the Douro. In the zones most sheltered of the arribanzo they are in the habit of being of average between 5°C and 10°C higher than in the north plateau; nevertheless, given where the vineyard is placed, it is possible to say the disparity of zones that a part of this one is cultivated in areas by values similar to them of, for example, the zone of Toro or Tierra del Vino, whereas the most sheltered zone has more semajanzas to his neighboring region of the Alto Duero.

Types of wine

White Wine. Elaborated with the variety Malmsey wine. Straw treats itself about brilliant wines, about color with greenish shades, in general pale. The wine fermented in cask presents major intensity of color, being a yellow gilding. The aromatic intensity is a high average, being characterized by the fruits of pip, the exotic fruits (pineapple, maracuyá) accompanied of soft citric notes.There appear floral recollections (jazmine, rose) and something of thyme and wet straw. Some recollection of toast and torrefacto, as well as a touch of yogurt. It is a question of dry wines, of balanced acidity, with delicate bitterness that persistence awards them, light and sometimes slightly piquant. In the fermented one in cask it appreciates major aromatic intensity and complexity, with a suitable assembly between variety and wood, honeyedly, persistently.
Pink Wine. Clean wines, of average intensity, of color currant with shades strawberry and of high intensity, with aromas to red fruit (strawberry, raspberry) citrus fruits (grapefruit, orange) floral and slightly vegetable. They appreciate lacteal notes and a mineral recollection. In honeyed, balanced mouth, something is bitter, piquant and hot, balanced and persistent.
Stained Wine. Wines elaborated with the varieties Juan García, Rufete and Tempranillo. They are wines of clean color, of average intensity, cherries with shades garnet. In nose of average, agreeable intensity and personal character. Aromas to red fruits (plum, currant) and negresses, recollections to pepper.Spices like vanilla and licorice, and in someone it appreciates a touch of wood. Balsamic recollections (incense, eucalyptus), smoked. Something of dried and mineral fruits. In mouth they are dry wines, of average acidity, slightly bitter, slightly light and persistent. Great structure, body and long palate in his step along the mouth. Very suitable for the aging in cask.
