Founded in 1928
In the last quarter of the 19th century D. Francisco Javier Solano y Eulate, Marqués de la Solana, following the advices of the famous enologist of Bordeaux, Mr. Pineau, initiates the production and upbringing of his wines according to the criteria bordeleses and starts bottling and selling them with the brand " MARQUÉS DE LA SOLANA ".
Since then, with the Winery already in hands of 4 ª and 5 ª generation of the family, the surface of vineyards has increased, also it has grown and the Winery has modernized, but there continues being kept with purity the concept of Wines of Estate, the worship to the made well work and the respect to the land and to his fruits.
The production comes in its entirety from own vineyards, within Villabuena of Alava, placed in the soft hillsides that descend from the Saw of Cantabria towards the Valley of the Ebro and which for his soil and orientation assemble the best conditions to produce grapes of high quality. The middle ages of the vineyard are superior to 25 years.
The dominant grape is the Tempranillo, that in this express zone his better characteristics, using to give differential value to our wines a few "coupages" with the varieties Graciano, Mazuelo and Robe in stained wines, as well as Viura and Malmsey wine in white wines.
