Vinos Masía la Hoya

Finca Masía de la Hoya is situated in Segorbe (Castellón), is located in the foothills of the Sierra Calderona, SE Segorbe, about 6 km and has a total area of ??78 hectares, of which are grown in the valley some 27 acres. The property comes from the family that says in the deed of purchase to the state in 1884-from the goods of the Church, that "almost all arable land was devoted to the cultivation of the vine" also includes, "warehouse, cubes and Winery". The great advantage of this property is its complete isolation from other cultures, being surrounded by mountains which enabled us always, keep the plant material in good health, to prevent possible contamination of neighboring crops. For extreme situations of low rainfall, has a drip irrigation system. The vine was cultivated in this area since time immemorial. The terrible plague of phylloxera between 1910-1920 devastated the vineyards not only in this area but throughout Spain. However, many traditional areas of viticulture solved the problem with the replanting, using patterns that disease resistant. Therefore, in this area of Castellón practically abandoned earth vines.

Since 2002, we have started plantations, using strains of material "BASE" (High Quality) within 6 acres with varieties: Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Grenache. We have now reached the 15 hectares, extending from Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah and Monastrell (Mourvedre). The plantation is structured throughout the classical system on trellis, wire-to-wire single-row, or as "lira" with two parallel lines, trying to get as many clusters, but smaller and with the grain looser, less compact, producing wines of the highest quality.
