Rovira Baqués

Founded in 1635

The family Ferrer, was up to the 18th century the owner of the estate Pedralba's Mas Surià. Placed in Sant Sadurní's municipal area d'Anoia, in the heart of the wine region of the Penedès. To the death of these without descent, she was inherited by his nephew, Josep Rovira, who joined her with his lands. The new extended estate fruit of this union was known as Cal Mota.
From this moment, the estate happened from generation to generation and there was to Pere Rovira's hands i Carbó, Pau Rovira Santacana, Josep Rovira Miquel of Room and Pere Rovira Mestre, up to the current Josep, Pere i Mariona Rovira Baqués and the new generations Josep, Martha, i Joan Cucurella Rovira.

Generation after generation they have played the role his home of Cal Mota and of the land his way of life. The Farmhouse has suffered throughout the years successive improvements and extensions to improve in the culture and the vinificación and to be implanting the technological advances that every epoch was providing.
The estate always has been dedicated to the culture of the grapevine, selling bulk wine, for the production of wine-cellar or even for the export. In 1919 a transaction is documented for the export and destined to relieve the effects of the first World war and the phylloxera that Frenchman was decimating the cultures of vineyard, till then the major world producer of wine and press of Europa's great part and America.

With the incorporation to the family Rovira de los Baqués, adds to the agricultural tradition the experience in the commercialization of sweet and mellow wines, new ways of understanding the viticulture and even the recognition in the shape of prizes in international exhibitions.
Eventually wine tradition and to the handcrafted manufacture, there join today in days the last technological advances, the modern knowledge and methods to re-throw our wines and frothy Rovira Baqués.
Wines that aúnan tradition, modernity and an elaborated and elegant production up to the last detail that they are awarded by a stamp of exclusivity, genuineness, wines that reveal our passion for the vineyard and his fruits. Wines that are a few worthy inheritors of a familiar history tied to the land and the grapevine.
