Cooperativa Agrícola i SC de L'Espluga de Francolí, S.C.C.L.
L'Espluga de Francolí's cooperative winery, Muntaner was built in the year 1913, under the direction of the architect Pere Domènech i Roura, son of Lluís Domènech i. It placed inside the purest architectural style of the epoch and was one of the first modernist wineries of Catalonia. By his monumentalismo she is known par excellence as the " Cathedral of the wine ", qualification attributed to Angel Guimerà during his stay in L'Espulga de Francolí, in the year 1921.
Nowadays we elaborate wine, wine-cellar and oils with the name Francolí and also generous wines, mistela, mellow and muscatel.
Between his modern wine facilities it receives the Museum of the Wine dedicated to the history of the vineyard in the Conca de Barberà, his culture, production of the wine and to the modernist building as such. Three monographic audio-visual ones dedicated to the production of the wine, to the birth of the cooperativism and to the modernism, complete a tour of 3 levels (presses, ships and on the tubs) thinking didactically for a visitors' wide range.
During the 90s and up to the current importance, the developments have been renewed and they have adapted the systems of plantation to allow the mechanized vintage.
In the year 2005 it was extended and there was constructed a new wine-cellar of maximum capacity of approximately 7,5 million bottles.
Nowadays it is bottled near 25 % of our production, selecting the best musts for the production of our wines.
