The production of wine in the Castle Perelada is documented already from the Middle Ages, as it is testified by several documents and parchments of the epoch that remain in the library. When Michael Mateu bought this monumental set in 1923 one of his principal aims it was the revitalización of this wine tradition, a tradition that today is never more alive that and that has incorporated the most modern technology to elaborate a few wines that extract the maximum departed from the shades of the soils and vineyards of the Empordà.
