Founded in 1974
In 1974, these Wineries MURUA situated in Elciego, they were acquired by the CASA MASAVEU, and Murua was structured then as joint-stock company. ELCIEGO is a municipality of the Rioja Alavesa placed to the north of the name and orientated in the southern part. His lands remain protected from the coldest winds for the Saw of Cantabria, and the base of the area is of clayey - calcareous composition, staggered in terraces, prototype for the culture of the qualit vineyard.
The grape, it comes exclusively from his own vineyards, and the export supposes today 20 % of the total sales, directed all the continents, specially to the European.
The estate that surrounds the Winery in Elciego is divided in 8 payments planted with different varieties depending on shades as the 'terroir', the orientation, solar exhibition of the clusters, etc. To obtain the best results with every type of grape.
Inside the facilities that receive the principal building, Murua has an exclusive library, only in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, where the Winery hoards hundreds of volumes that gather everything written on the wine from the 16th century to the present day.
