Bodegas de Santa María de Nogueira

Founded in 1992

winery constructed in 1992 by producers of Nogueira's zone (Chantada). Placed in Chantada's heart, zone that differs for his natural and landscape wealth. It initiates his activity inside the D.O. Sacred Ribeira in 1998.

winery led from September, 2003 by White D. Jose Luís Alvarez and by D. Jose Manuel Moure Moure, the latter owner of Adegas San José SL. His philosophy is vinificar with autochthonous varieties, preferably grape mencía, and a small part of grape robe, proceeding from vineyards own and acquired to vine-growers of Nogueira's zone or rest of Chantada's zones, which grape differs for his excellent quality on having been bathed by the river Miño and placed in constant sunny banks of hot climate.

His current capacity of production is 300.000 Liters. Elaborated and bottlings in the winery, which surface is of 500 m2, provided with the most modern technologies in vinificación. The production of his wines elaborated with the variety Mencía, in his major proportion, and Robe, incorporates besides the good one to do traditionally of the good broths, the precision and reliability of the new technologies, betting in his production for a wine of great quality, based on a rigorous viticulture.

His wines, Veiga do Bacelo and Bacelo two Counts, attend to the principal aim of the winery: the production of a product of excellent characteristics using for it, raw materials of the first quality and ideal structure and design of his presentations.
