Bodega Altrabanda, S.C.P.

Serralada de Marina is a winery placed in Martorelles, Barcelona dedicated to the production of wine Serralada of Sea-coast. When in 1999 Joan Plans decided to re-open his winery it did it with Altrabanda's curious name (another side in Castilian) referring to his location, since his vineyards are located to another side of the mountains that separate it from the Catalan population of Alella.

Plans always had had vineyards in his house and after a parenthesis of 20 years it modernized the winery and waited for the circumstances adapted to return to elaborate wine commercialized with the brand Serralada of Sea-coast and that sells in restaurants of the zone as well as abroad. The Name of Origin Alella, to which Altrabanda belongs, is of the smallest of the Peninsula, with 560 hectares of culture in the north of Barcelona.

The winery Altrabanda is the only one of the DO Alella that elaborates all his white wines with the autochthonous variety of the territory, the Pansa Blanca. Martorelles's winery elaborates products with Name of Origin Alella under the name Serralada of Sea-coast and also products as a wine of orange, a vinegar and a vermouth, with the name Castellruf; all of them are 100 % Pansa Blanca. Joan Plans, owner of the winery, affirms: " if the autochthonous variety is the Pansa Blanca it is because the step of the years has demonstrated that it is the best adapted one to the climate and to the characteristics of the territory".
