Bodegas Al Zagal

Founded in 2001

The winery was founded in 2001 by a group of friends fans of this world of wine. They did a study where it was found that the area met ideal conditions for growing grapes: continental climate where temperature differences between winter and summer are huge, hot summers and cold winters, there is always freezing in winter and usually rains are scarce.

Among the attendees, one offered his vineyard about 4000 strains of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon in Buds of Guadix, hence the origin, and that group decided to experiment. They created an Association of Friends of Wine and the first year 600 bottles were produced. The result was very good and it encouraged them to move forward. The following year, 2003, 1200 bottles were produced, and it became necessary to build a warehouse or to cease activity. Fortunately for wine lovers, the decision was to build a winery, although it is still small, with capacity for 40,000 bottles, equipped with modern facilities and in accordance with what is intended: making quality wines.

The vineyards winery draws from some partners and also has contracts with farmers in the area, which is fully interwoven with the economic realities of the area, as these small farmers are assured of selling their grapes and also have technicians winery in counseling.
