DO CIGALES

The D.O. Cigales began to work as such in the year 1991, a youth nevertheless deceitful, because as it consists citing documents in evidence, already in the 10th century they turn out to be proprietary of vineyards in different municipalities of the region like Cubillas or Corcos. What has come characterizing the differential elements in Cigales's pink wines it has been the production in white with mixture of stained and white varieties, bearing in mind the accession of the above mentioned varieties to our soil, climate and cultural practices. Throughout the years experiences have been realized, collaborating with the station enológica of Castile and León, coming to the conclusion that elaborating with a few suitable proportions of white varieties (albillo, verdejo and sauvignon blanc) with stained varieties (tempranillo, robe and merlot), the pink obtained wine is the Cigales's typical one, but fulfilling the expectations that nowadays there demands the market of color, aromas and flavor. From the year 1985, gradually the vineyard has been re-turning, giving place to plantations with varieties in proportions adapted to elaborate pink but also to be able to realize experiences with red wines. The results obtained with varieties you dye like: Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, both for young red wines and for upbringing and reservations, they have fulfilled the awaited expectations. This way, in the year 1994 it went out to the market the first one Reserves 1991 of the D.O. Cigales. In the successive years, as it increases the age of our vineyards, the quality of our upbringing will be raising equally positions on the market.

Climate

Corresponds to the continental one with Atlantic influence, with strong thermal oscillations, so much during the day as throughout the year. Characterized by his irregularity pluviométrica and his strong summer drought; the winters are raw and prolonged with frosts and frequent fogs and West predominance of winds and South-west wind. The average annual sunstroke is coded in 2.616 hours, with a maxim of 371 hours in July, and a minimum of 87 hours in December. The average annual rainfall is 407 mm. That are distributed in 93 days a year. The annual everage temperature is of 12,2ºC, with a thermal oscillation that changes between 39ºC and -6ºC.

Types of wine

Pink Cigales New. Elaborated with a minimum of 60% of variety Tinto del País and at least 20% of white varieties. Wine of the year, which alcoholic acquired minimal graduation will be of 10.5º. Necessarily it will appear add it in the label.
Cigales Rosado. Elaborated with a minimum of 60% of the Stained variety of the Country and at least with 20% of white varieties. Commercialized from December 31 of the following year, which alcoholic acquired minimal graduation will be of 11º.
Pink Cigales Crianza. Elaborated with a minimum of 60% of the variety Tinta del País and at least with 20% of white varieties, which alcoholic acquired minimal graduation will be of 11º.
Red wines. Elaborated with a minimum of 85% of grape of the varieties Tinto del País and Robe Dyes, whose alcoholic acquired minimal graduation will be of 12º.
