DO VALLE DE LA OROTAVA

This D.O. occupies good part of so often sung region of the same name, placed in the north slope of the Dorsal Mountain chain of the Island of Tenerife, in the Archipelago of the Canaries. Under the majestic presidency of the Teide, the region descends in the wide one and flat sloping laying, of slopes less pronounced than in the rest of the coastal zones of the north of Tenerife, up to bathing in the rough and deep waters of the stormy Atlantic Ocean.

Climate

In spite of being placed in full desert zone, the islands are real continents in miniature and in them they give themselves, according to orientation and altitude, a great variety of climates different from that of the neighboring zone of Africa. It is possible for the benign influence of several factors, between which there can destacarse:Los trade winds loaded with dampness that blow all the year round proceeding from the N.O. and N.E. cleaning and refreshing the environment or smoothing the temperatures.The influence of the Atlantic Ocean, with his cold current of Canaries, that given the small dimension of the insular territories, it comes to all the places sweetening the temperatures in the coastal zones and giving great dampness to the air. The average annual pluviometría is low. In general, the rains are more abundant in the oriental slopes in the northern part that in those of the south and in the islands and places higher than in the trowels and zones of minor altitude.
