Founded in 1985
Grandes Bodegas S.A. it was created in 1985, for the Segovian family Hernández of Market. In 1987 they are established in Gnaw at (Burgos) and nowadays his new facilities are in La Horra (Burgos).
Grandes Bodegas, S.A. bets for the quality in the traditional production of his broths and, at the same time, he does not resign any of the advantages that the modern technology contributes to the enology. With a rigorously selected grape and with a great determination for achieving " the maximum quality ", Grandes Bodegas, S.A. offers his brand " MARQUÉS DE VELILLA ".
In 1990, this company acquired a really spectacular estate: " The Mount Villalobón ", with a surface of 800 hectares inside the municipal area of La Horra (Burgos), in full heart of the Ribera del Duero. In a high place of " The Mount Villalobón " one finds a winery perfectly integrated to the landscape placed and with curious mixture of styles between the Castilian and colonial rustic thing, work of the agricultural engineer Pedro Hernández.
The winery possesses a surface of 4.200 m2, endowed with a technology of forefront and there is conertido in one of the best and more modern wineries of the Ribera el Duero. Inside the enclosure a former Castilian casona exists, with a small winery - that it plans to rehabilitate in brief - to destine it to the production of the grapes most chosen between the exploitation, with a limited production of the highest quality and that now takes place under Monte Villalobón's name.
