Founded in 1864

In his long and extensive history it has belonged to diverse owners, there are documents of the high place medievo in the epoch of the foundation of the Cistercian monastery of Valbuena's Santa Maria in that already there is specified the existence of the fertile plaines of Sicily and Carrascal. Of the distribution of land that Dona Urraca did I happen to belong to the masters of Peñafiel until 1601.

Later I go on to Garci Ponce's hands of Red and Maria Salazar, this way I continue changing owners until in 1848 Toribio Lecanda I buy the Marquess of Valbuena an estate of 2.000 hectares, being his son Eloy the founder of the wineries in 1864. Still Blacksmith would go on to hands of other owners as the family, with them and of Domingo Garramiola's hand it would be born in 1915 two exceptional wines: Vega Sicily and Valbuena, a few wines that cannot be acquired by money but by friendship.

But it would not be until 1982 when the family Álvarez Mezquíriz bought the Venezuelan businessman Michael Neuman, the winery and the vineyards. Since then his philosophy has been to harmonize the innovative trends with the way of doing traditionally and for Baco that have obtained it, a wine done in the silence, the only wine, a mythical wine
