Founded in 1786
The REAL JUNTA arises in the middle of the 18th century, by means of the union of the vine-growers of 52 peoples of La Rioja, as need of group for the defense of his interests as well as to unite diverse criteria as for the surface measures in vineyards, capacity, etc. But the fundamental purpose was directed to the spreading of the name of Rioja and his wines and the improvement of the both wine-growing and wine practices.
By means of Royal Order of July 22, 1801, there was modified the advice of the REAL JUNTA, which happens to be formed by 20 just men of each one of the parties, as well as for 5 members of each one of 52 peoples vine-growers. We are therefore before the first vestige of asociacionismo wine that knows itself in Spain and that undoubtedly was the germ and origin of the current prestige of the wines of Rioja, previous to the arrival after the French domination, of diverse butlers
