Bodegas Piqueras

Founded in 1915

Almansa is a noble villa in La Mancha Albacete. The massive presence of the very Mediterranean grapes in their vineyards Monastrel led to create a DO specific wines, independent of its neighbors Mancha. Of the few wineries bottling there was always only survives Bodegas Piqueras. This is a family firm founded early in the century, he learned to intuit the mid-70s that the wine world was changing and had to give, finally, the quality battle. Architect of the transformation of the winery was Mario Bonnet, great winemaker and great taster, who put on the market a wine unthinkable in that environment: a red wine in which grapes were used exclusively, and Cencibel Monastrel, which was subjected to careful oak aging and does not show any of the characteristics (degree excessive feelings of terroir ...) that led to the rejection of other wines of the neighborhood.

With these rods, the Castillo de Almansa was making its way into the market, competing with many Riojas, and collecting accessions everywhere and especially abroad, where he has many distinctions. Currently, the management of the firm has been in the hands of his son Juan Pablo, but the Castillo de Almansa still retains the personality and quality that made him famous, not to mention another attraction: the adjusted price.
