Founded in 2004
Bodegas Ortubia it was founded in the year 2004 for Alfonso and Pelayo Fernandez and our parents Urbano and M ª Rosario. We cultivate our own vineyards and elaborate the familiar wine only with the grapes that come from them. This tradition goes back to the epoch of the grandparents, does more than 70 years.
At present both brothers we take charge cultivating the vineyards and elaborating the wine. We possess the inestimable help of the major brother, Jose Ignacio, professional enologist. The guidelines of production are the same that he learned Urbano in a course of enology in 1946 when only he was 15 years old.
Our mother grandfather inherited in 1920 a small vineyard within The Ortubia, there the name of the Winery. The designation of this place disappeared of the maps, of the planes and of the land registries. At present it is known by Custobia's name. Our family still possesses this vineyard.
