Bodega Antigua Casa de Guardia S.L.

Founded in 1840

The winery Antigua Casa de Guardia, is a company founded in 1840 by Jose de la Guardia, Spanish gentleman who would end up by showing the Governor's title of Segovia at the suggestion of the own Queen Isabel II.

This circumstance propitiated the sale of the establishment to Enrique Navarro, who in 1895 it bequeathed to Jose Ruiz Luque, who remained at the head of the business all his life. To his death without descent in 1932, the establishment happened to his nephew, Jose Garijo Ruiz, who turned into the principal impeller of the winery during the 20th century.

Jose Garijo Ruiz worried along all his life about promoting and announcing the wines of Malaga in his purer condition, both from the winery and from the tavern placed in the Principal Avenue.

From both scenes it continued with the wine tradition, which has come to the present day. It was in 1997 when the family Garijo proposed to advance in the original project and to support the qualit inheritance from which they have come displaying the wines of the winery Antigua Casa de Guardia, received the D.O. Malaga and Sierras de Malaga.

Parallel, an important investment has been realized in facilities and machinery, which allows the production of qualit wines without neglecting the traditional methods of vinificación.
