The production extends from Cambra Valley located south of the River Douro, to the edge with the Miño River which borders Spain. The number of vineyards (which are characterized by green color) round about 100,000, about 28,000 hectares, corresponding to 15% of the overall Portuguese wine. The climate of the area is purely Atlantic. The producers are very fragmented, 90% of them have smaller areas of the five acres. We can see how the vines planted in terraces shaped valleys on pergolas with granite posts or entangled around trees, tend to disappear and give way to vineyards ladeas classic in the hills. This wine is traditionally made on a domestic scale. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation small that makes you have a trace of carbon dioxide in the bottle (needle).

The Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) divides Vinho Verde production into six subregions: Amarante, Ave, baião, Basto, Cávado, Lima, Moncao, Paiva, Sousa. Monção Area produces one of the best green vinhos the Albariño grape. The upper Douro Valley offers an average production of 70 million liters per year and about 11% of production is exported. The main destinations are France, USA and Germany, followed by Angola, Canada and the UK. For most of the 40,000 growers, green wine remains a complementary activity, although the bulk of production is increasingly concentrated in the hands of a few large companies.

Its mouth slightly fruity flavors are tasted better if it is cold, then it's an appropriate wine for warm summer nights. The high acidity of this wine has a tonic and purifier. For its slight effervescence, the Vinho Verde is especially good to accompany grilled fish and seafood. has excellent digestive properties that explain its freshness and its specificity.

Moreover, another advantage of this is that it is also very light on the wallet, since wine is not overly expensive.Oh, and one more thing. Not only is there green wine white, but there are also pink and red.
